The next book in the series follows Jason, Riley, and George as they continue their battle to ensure that the Twilight Throne continues its existence. They meet another player, Eliza, who is an alchemist. Their team encounters a new god, the Hippie while continuing Jason's quest that was initiated by the Old Man.
Jason also faces real-world consequences from his in-game playing. At the end of the previous book, two people broke into his aunt's home and attempted to attack him while he was in-game. When he was logged off, he found himself standing over the intruder's bodies. The lingering effects of this continue to plague Jason and pop up from time to time.
Despite all of this, Jason continues to grow personally and in-game. By the end of the book, Jason has completed the quest as set forth by the Old Man and evolved his race to become a Shade. Personally, he solidifies his friendship with Riley and Frank, becoming a better person and friend.
Referencing back to the timeline of the book, it seems that I read them in the wrong older, even though the storyline continued without interruption. Now I am torn in which order to continue. I believe that I will continue with Jason's timeline for now.
